Kerrigan, Age 14, South Bloomingville, OH
I sat there and stared at him across the room. He was so handsome; it was like he had a force that drew you in. A force that you couldn't escape. He looked dreamy with his blond hair and sea green eyes. No girl could resist him. He was known as the varsity football captain, student body president, homecoming king, and now he will be known as a killer. Nobody knows why he did it, he had a perfect life. No enemies, no motive, no reason. He was the last person anybody would expect of doing this. His face was blank as he sat in the interrogation room. I watched him from outside in disbelief. I threw my chair and screamed when he told the police he didn't mean to.
I hit my fists against the glass and fell to my knees and cried. He killed my best friend and he tried to kill me. Every time I close my eyes, I see my best friend looking at me with her cold, dark eyes. I tried to save her. The images won't leave my head. She was the only thing I had in my life, and now she's gone. I held her in my arms. He sat there and laughed. He came up behind me and stabbed me over and over until I hit the ground. I thought I was going to die.

I sat there and cried. I closed my eyes, and I remembered when I woke up in the hospital. There was a police officer there. I knew her. She was Ann's sister. She looked at me and wrapped her arms around me as we both cried. Ann didn't deserve this--she was the sweetest human-being. I was thinking about all the great memories we had together, she was my best friend. She was always there for me, and now she was gone, thanks to him.

When the officer left the room, I asked if I could go in. She asked why. I said I needed to know why he did this--I needed to know. As I walked into the room, I stared at him. He looked up at me and smiled. I closed my eyes and saw Ann smiling. I walked over to him and gave him a kiss. When I pulled back he dropped to the floor. I had stabbed him as he had stabbed my best friend and me. I bent down and looked at him. I whispered to him, " Who's the no good loser now?" I walked out of the room with a grin on my face as everybody rushed in. The officer looked at me and asked why I did it. I responded," I finally have closure for Ann," as she cuffed me.
