Raining Night
Tanner, Age 13, Phoenix, AZ
                      The night is attacked by tears of the clouds,
Falling through the mesh of my open window,
Onto my exposed face,
Iím shuttered awake by pitter-patter on my roof,
Out the window is a race of water from the sky,
Unsettling the waters
The smell of wet pavement fills my nostrils
And inflames my tongue
An unrecognized taste lingers,
The chills start at my neck
And race to every nerve ending in my body,
The night it rained
