A Dark and Dreary Day
Emily, Age 12, Duncan, BC
This day is dark and dreary,
The clouds are throwing temper tantrums
as if they were a naughty child sent to bed,
The windows are streaked with finger-prints
in hopes of the sun exploding through the clouds,

This day is dark and dreary,
The rain is falling in buckets,
Pitter-patter, pitter-patter
The air is like knives,
stealing your breath away,

This day is dark and dreary,
The blanket is warming up,
As it reaches full warmth,
the sun peaks out of the clouds,
Aahhh, this day is bright and sunny.
