Carry Me Home
Lasarina, Age 8, Madison, CT
White holds me in his quiet, warm arms
Red is the color that kisses my check on a sad lonely day
Yellow is the color that fills my heart with love, a color which brightens my day
But Blue is the color that carries me home

Black keeps a family together, weaves the line
Purple picks plump, ripe berries and hushes a baby’s cry
Green is Mother Nature, a nice soft bed of leaves
But Blue is the color that carries me home

Orange is small, like a tangerine seed but can grow into something bigger
Pink is a Haiku flower, a quiet sprinkling of peace
But Blue is the color that carries me home

Blue, yes Blue.
The river is a world of blue
Forever and forever flowing
But blue, yes blue, is the one color
That carries me home
