Carnival Freedom
Justin, Age 13, Doylestown, PA

The plane had just landed at Miami International Airport in South Florida. It was 1 o'clock in the morning and my family and I were staying at a hotel until late morning. Whoosh. I opened the blinds and that very moment I knew that I was on my way to the Carnival Freedom and that this would be the trip of a lifetime!

There was a warm breeze of air and I was in the terminal ready to board Carnival Freedom—a vast vessel the size of 100 football fields or more, and it is so high up, maybe 75 feet in the air, and it is surrounded by crystal blue water. My family and I wanted to always remember this trip because this was our very first one and so my mom and dad took a picture of me and my sister sitting on the bench pointing to where it said “Carnival Freedom.”

What surprises me now is how young I looked and how much different I am now!
What you can’t see in this picture is the inside of the ship—it is beautiful, very high decorated ceilings, crystal chandeliers, gift shops, places to eat and so much more! What you can’t feel is the moist warm air and what you can’t smell is the salty ocean water and/or the delicious food. In the picture my mom and dad took I was probably thinking, “This is best time of my life. I can’t wait to see other parts of the world that I have never seen before.”

Before I knew it the cruise was almost over. It was the last day of our cruise and we were about to enter Miami Harbor, just where we started. When the Carnival Freedom pulled into the harbor, I was sad because I didn’t want this fun, amazing, and memorable trip to end! After we exited the terminal we went straight to the Miami International Airport, and as the plane slowly drifted away into the dark night sky, I knew that this was a trip I would not forget for the rest of my life!
