The City of Fall
Jonathan, Age 11, Austin, TX
All around is empty though eyes are watching me.
The wind is screeching and howling in my ears.
Sharp splinters have cut and scarred my hands from the mossy trees.
The scents of dirt and bark are never ending.
It is dark though the leaves appear to be lighting all around me with their vivid colors.
The city is empty but life is brimming everywhere.
The cold surrounding me feels like needles piercing my skin.
I know what’s happening, but I feel changed now that I have felt it.
This city has been engulfed in Fall.
