Hide and Seek
Madison, Age 13, Phoenix, AZ
The sun decides to hide beneath the Earth

Creeping into the dark and dangerous sky
the moon shows its smile

Stars show themselves one by one
for they’ve come out after a long day’s rest

Like tiny drops of the sun, the stars are only immature
they decide to weave in and out of the clouds

Every now and then, they chant “Peekaboo, I see you!”
Once they do, the sky is luminous

But when they leave, the sky is left dark,
everything lies silent,
another game of hide and seek begins
and you’re it
