Across the Land
Izzah, Age 13, Calgary, AB
                      We are taut
and scarcely can be called
friends, with
nothing but
strings of text,
austere in emotions,
to keep our bond,
stretched across the land,
together.
But I think on your words
you've told me in
those emails, those brief connections,
and I know
that true friends
don’t need to see the other–
we only need the messages
the other has to give.
