The Waves
Mackenzie, Age 12, Phoenix, AZ
                      The waves crash,
As the sky darkens,
Beginning to sprinkle with rain

A boom and a crackle,
Life guards yell and whistle,
And I fall into the ocean trenches again

The cold moist air fills my nose,
While flying sand builds up around my ankles,

What a wonderful day at the beach,
I thought to myself,
Just as the salty water seeped through the cracks of my lips
