Child of the Light
Sydney, Age 12, Virginia Beach, VA
The child in
the manger cries,
Chilled by the winter air at night,
His mother comes and holds him tight,
Warming him throughout the night.
A flickering candle beheld the light,
In which the mother gazed.
She gazed at the child held in her arms,
Whom she was keeping warm.
The child who would become a king,
And bear a crown of thorns.
The child who would take her sin,
And wear it on the cross,
The child in her arms that night
Was truly meant to be,
The child in her arms that night,
Was the son of God, of thee.
