Choosing to Love
Kristi. Age 12. Toronto, Ontario
                      Each person can choose to be brilliant.
We can all be bright, clear.
We can all plan our days precisely but,
choosing how we do them turns the smoke machine on.
Our lives are nothing different from one another
We all have our ways to see past those dark clouds;
for which the clouds resemble a sign, peace, hope,
something that we’re capable of but still beyond our limits.
So the people who don’t choose to do anything with love
They choose far from the yellow brick road and years later
Their bodies will topple expressionless onto the floor and become a minor blip on the news,
For not choosing wisely, for not choosing to love.
