My Greatest Fear
Janell, Age 13, Medicine Hat, AB

This is a true story about a friend and a sleepover, and how fears of the supernatural can happen.

My fear of dolls began when I was about seven years old. I was upstairs playing with my dog, Gypsy, and I went downstairs to see what my mom was doing. She had rented a movie earlier that day and she was watching it. She told me I could stay if I wanted to, but she was watching a scary movie about dolls. I told her that I was brave, and I could handle it, but the instant I saw the dolls face I ran as fast as I could up the stairs. Ever since then I have been afraid of dolls.

The day I went over to my friend's house, is a day I will never forget. I was over at my friend Sandy's house. We were having a sleepover and we where just getting ready for bed. We laid down and tried to go to sleep, but we couldn't. There where porcelain dolls in her room. They where staring at us with blank eyes that seemed to stare right through a person, further than the darkness of night. It freaked us out! I climbed on the bed with Sandy. We crouched on the bed and listened to the rattle of the windows, and the scritch scratch of branches rubbing against the siding of the house. We heard the creaking of the house, and saw shadows moving in the moonlight. We where up for the longest time before we fell asleep. When we woke up, we where still crouched on the bed, and every thing was normal....
