Look and Listen
Jessica, Age 16, Torbay, NF

Who do I ask
when they say I am wrong?
Where do I go for direction?

Who do they hear when I speak my mind?
I hope it is the me inside.

For you to see
the real me
you must do more
than look and listen.
There is more to heart
than a random thought
it is what's between
the lines I speak

So what do you do
when they say you are wrong?
Where will you go for direction?

What do you hear when you listen to me?
Are you thinking before you respond?

For you to see
the real you
You must do more
than look and listen
There is more to heart
than a random thought
it is what's between
the thoughts you think.

We are hypocritical
to say the world is wrong.
Then to sit and listen
to its tortured song
we must do more
than look and listen
and think before we respond.
