If you were alone
for a minute…
just one minute, would you like who you are?
Would you see yourself as other people do?
Or a different version of you?
Even if everyone loves you, like you’re some big star.
Would you look at yourself, and see what you never wanted to be?
Sometimes there’s a hole in your heart,
Where you tear yourself apart
Until there’s nothing left, but the posterboard that people want to see.
On the outside that is, on the inside there’s nothing,
A vast, empty nothing where you used to be
The love people have for you, you don’t share
Everyone always says “the only person that matters is you”
And you know that it’s true
So therefore you’re nothing
if you don’t love yourself.
So how can anyone else?
