The Goblet
Eugenia, Age 13, Brooklyn, NY

As I clutched at the jeweled chalice
Her eyes were glittering with malice
Her sinister cackle pierced the ear
I felt my end was drawing near
Contained in the goblet, liquid death
Was spreading its wicked, killing breath
Poison was concealed within the wine
'T would be catastrophic to decline
Refusal would put me in the path
Of a murderous, chaotic wrath
And her glare was venomous and cruel
As I gazed into the deadly pool
And lifted the vessel to my lip
To take my one, last, shuddering sip.
