The Runaway
Megan, Age 11, Vernon, BC

The runaway comes, the runaway goes,
Where she stops, nobody knows.
Like a ghost in the night,
She travels with amazing flight.
She swims in the day, in shallow water,
No one has ever fought her,
For she is the runaway, brave and true,
I’d watch out, she may be coming for you!
Rides away on a billowing sail,
When she hires a crew, they never fail,
They’ve stolen plunder from every ship,
It’s always been a horrifying trip.
Then suddenly, she rides away,
Packed with gold, she’s gone in a day,
Creeping about on the farthest ground,
Once again she’ll never be found.
