Megan, Age 11, Farmington, CT

The flower is like me
Oh so very pretty
Changing in every way
Drooping some days
Other days it's smiling towards the sun
Only because it knows it won
Only the most confident
Probably the most independent
Doesn't drink the water it gets
Drinks the rain when it falls on its head
Doesn't eat the food it receives
Eats the food that lives in the grass green
And of course it'll never forget
That it's different
It's not the same as everyone else
It loves itself
Loves every curve on her
Loves everything about her
You may think that she's self-centered
But it's called confidence
She doesn't show off and brag
And she knows there's no such thing as perfect.
