Motocross Racing
Craig, Age 12, Palmyra, NY

The ear-breaking roar of the engines and the crowd.
The sound of gears clicking.
My hands on the throttle.
The smell of exhaust.

My eyes fixed on immediate competition.
Looking at the Honda uniforms.
321 GO!
Others 揺ating my dust.
I抦 sweating under all my protective gear.
Switching to a faster gear,
Sharply turning the sand dunes,
Speeding over ramps.

The feeling of air rushing past me
As if I抦 fighting a current.
Then, the final lap!
My heart pounds trying to pass others.
Racing ahead, speeding past the finish line.
The gears shifting down
the engines cooling off.
The joy of coming in first.
