The Little Lost Kitten
Savannah, Age 7, Ripley, WV

Once upon a time there lived a little girl. Her name was Madi. She always wanted a cat.

Her brother always said, “Save up your money.”

Her mom said, “Get one for your birthday,” and her dad said, "Buy one." So she saved up her money, and she got a kitten.

Oh, how she loved her kitten. She played with her kitten everyday, and her kitten loved to play hide-and-go-seek.

One day she took her kitten out to play hide-and-go-seek. She sat her out in the grass, and she counted to ten. When she was done counting, she couldn’t find her.

She looked in the bushes. She looked behind a tree, but still couldn’t find her. She asked her mom if she had seen her. Her mom said, "No, but I'll help you find her." And that was exactly what she did.

Then they saw a hole in the fence. Oh, no! The kitten was lost! They looked everywhere.

Where could she be?” asked Madi.

“Don’t worry. We’ll find her,” said her mom.

Then they saw her dad cutting the grass. They asked him if he had seen the kitten. He said, "No, but I will help find her.” And that was exactly what he did. But they still couldn’t find him.

Then they saw her brother playing with his friends. They asked him if he had seen her, but he said, “No, but I will help you find her.” And that was exactly what  he did.

Then they saw Grandpa mowing the grass. They asked him if he had seen her, and he said "Yes, she went that way.”

Then they saw Grandma holding her!
