Fear
Alex, Age 13, Akron, OH

I’d do anything not to go
But my mouth wouldn’t let me say no
Paralyzed from the waist down
My feet only let me fall to the ground
I was weaker than an infant
My brain say’s, “I can’t go, I can’t”
Heart speeds up every second that goes by
At that moment I wished I could fly
To run away and never go though
Oh, if only you knew
The terrible torture that lay just ahead
Look, I can see my deathbed
The nurse comes out and finally says: Al,
Time for your root canal!
