Aunt Julie
LeAnn, Age 12, Merced, CA

“Kids! I have some bad news ,” said my dad the day my aunt passed away. We were all crying and we were all sick to our stomachs in disbelief. Our mouths dropped open. We didn’t know what to say other than WHAT! It changed my life forever. She was so full of life; she was a great loving person.

It happened in her sleep. We all knew there was something wrong because our mom was gone when we got home from school. It was so upsetting. I wasn’t expecting something like this to happen. She was only 36 and going to turn 37. Later we discovered that she had an illness called sleep apnea. That’s when you stop breathing while you are asleep.

I learned a big lesson from this incident. I learned never to take things for granted and you should appreciate the things you have while you have them. I will always keep that in my mind when I get mad at someone. I will never forget the lesson I learned. It is a good thing to remember for anyone who fights or is very unhappy.

This incident changed my life because I lost a family member that my family and I all loved. I had never experienced anything like that before. It changed my life and I will always have a hole in my heart. I will always miss her and it has made a big gap in my life.

I miss her a lot. I will always love her and so will everyone in my family. She was a great, caring, and loving person. She is watching over my family and me. We all miss her terribly. WE love her and will always remember my Aunt Julie.
