What a Weekend!
Jordyn, Age 11, Merced, CA

Hot, sweaty, and so excited! “I feel like a pig roasting in the sun (but a happy pig),” I said to my friend as we were on our way to the lake.

“We’re here,” Tammy said as we jumped out of the car.

“Finally,” I sighed. We were at Lake Don Pedro. I was at the lake with one of my best friends, Britney. Her older sister, Alyssa, had brought a friend, too - Rebecca. I knew we were going to have a blast. It was better than staying home for a three-day weekend doing chores.

Britney was telling me how fun and beautiful the lake is. She said it is like a paradise. It was home away from home. We were getting to go on an almost million dollar houseboat. We were going to spend 3 days there.

“Are you serious?”  I asked with amazement and shock. I was so surprised when Britney told me. This expensive houseboat had two bedrooms and two bathrooms. One of the bedrooms had two sets of bunk beds in it. We, of course, slept on top of the houseboat. It was perfect. The weather was perfect and the stars were bright in the night sky. I was the last person up in the morning because I was looking at the stars all night.

One exciting activity was riding the jet skies. Britney had said on the way to the lake that she hoped the jet skies were on the houseboat. I was glad to see then there. Jumping  the waves two on a ski was fantastic. SPLASH!! Britney had just fallen off. I was cracking up laughing.  She is so crazy that she almost threw me off. Riding with Britney was the best. We had a full tank of gas and an hour later it was empty. We went all over we went to see the water wake boarding cove. Just our luck we couldn’t get in.

Another fantastic activity we enjoyed was jumping off the houseboat. It felt like I was flying. The air going through my hair as if I just jumped off a mountain! The water was so cool and refreshing. It felt as if I had just plunged into a glass of ice-cold water. We did this while waiting for a turn on the jet skies.

I was so bummed to leave, but I was also excited to be going home, also I wanted to go home because I wanted to see my family. I was actually tired of rocking back and forth on a boat. I felt like I was rocking when we arrived home and I got out of the car. I had wished to go to the lake just to ride the jet skies and I my wish was granted. It  was a weekend to remember thanks to my great friend Britney. And it felt go to be home.
