Comfortable Silence |

We set sail, gliding over blue water my hair billowing in the wind, like nothing could go wrong. Conversation was low, almost silent. Not the bad silence but the silence that is comfortable between two good friends. The silence that allows you to hear the wind, the waves lapping against the boat, the sea gulls, and the sail swaying gently. As the marina came into sight my heart sank. I was filled with the realization, that it was time for this trip to end. Slowly, all the pleasantness, safeness, relaxation, drifted away and broke like a wave on the shore. But the hope of doing it again stayed. |
