Silence
Tanaz, Age 12, New Jersey, USA

Sky streaked with pink
all becomes quiet,
not a bird nor man heard
just the quiet sway of the wind
and the rustle of trees

Then I hear a faraway whistle
it shatters the silence
in millions of pieces
like broken glass

A shrill cry of a crow
pierces the air
with its mighty cry

The silence evaporating
like thin air
