I Want to Stay Home
Hailey, Age 11, Chilliwack, BC

I want to stay home so I can sleep till noon,
eat when I want to, slouch on the couch
and complain about my headache;
be able to feel like I could drive forever,
hear how loud things really are,
see how bright the sun really is,
how cold it really is, so I can layer my clothes
adding on a new addition every time
I see something wearable and be myself,
feel how nice it feels to be so tired you’re dozy
I want to stay home so I can IMP my friends about how
everything is so loud and about annoying brothers
and buzzing bees and so I can do what I want,
when I want and just be a silly teenybopper.
