A Day in New York City
Natalie, Age 12, Easton, CT

Thump, thump, thump
People’s feet make a thunderous roar,
In and out from store to store,
Honking horns and flashing lights,
They rush through the streets and they’re out of sight,
The streets are flooded with shiny cars,
And everyone wants a bite at Mars,
The people in the stores are working bees,
Here in the middle of NYC,
The excited tourists come to see,
The amazing Statue of Liberty,
The smell of food, the sight of feet
The sound of cars, the feeling of rhythm and beat,
The noise dies down,
The shadows appear,
Now the streets are almost clear,
The sun has gone,
It’s such a pity,
But, tomorrow's another exciting day in New York City.
