ďI will use the upstairs for my headquarters; my soldiers will be billeted downstairs,Ē the captain said bluntly.
Domenic shuddered.  He visualized sleeping outside in the cold and rain.

Curtis Parkinsonís writing is so powerful and realistic, yet it also is brimming with suspense and detailed descriptions.  The cover of the book, by Kenneth Rittener, is also very compelling.  I would recommend this book to kids between the ages of 11 and 14.  Even if you donít like war books, this is a good read.

Domenicís War is mainly about Domenic and his family. Throughout the book you follow his daily routines, and for him as well as many others, world, country, and life is demolished.  You also learn the story of Antonio, a boy whose family was killed when a bomb hit their house, a boy who tries to escape that hustle and bustle of war.  Will the boys be able to escape far enough from the activity of war to save their lives?

Domenicís War has earned 4 stars.
