The Face of Life
Amber, Age 13, Cullman, AL

Dear Journal,

This time I have nothing to say,
But good-bye.
My life will end,
And never again will I see light.

As I toss in my sleep,
I feel my breath leave.
My lungs become empty,
As I start to feel weak.

I lay still now,
Breath no longer there.
My body grows as cold,
As the midnight air.

My soul wanders the surface,
Of this horrid planet.
As I look for my real home,
I see you come for me.

I look at your face,
And know what life is about.
I look at your face,
And I want out.
