Imagine, if
you will, six twelve year-old girls scampering around New York City fighting
crime. If you can picture this, you can picture the storyline for Kiki
Strike, and imagine the mystery and adventure that awaits them.
The girls become very close, after being brought together by a girl named
Kiki Strike. Kiki is mysterious in many ways, and this girl is commanding
them to put all their talents together to create the elite group of six
called ‘The Irregulars’. It seems like just a game until innocent people
begin to go missing.
I have to be honest. When I read the back of this book, I didn’t like the
sound of it and the beginning of the book had much the same impact, BUT then
things started to get exciting. I would have to say that this novel could be
read by very mature twelve year-olds and up to about the age of sixteen. It
is a real thriller once it gets going. It has a pinch of humour, and is just
the thing to read when you have nothing else to do.
Four out of
five stars for Kiki Strike.
