They were noble pants, but unassuming. You could glance over them and just think, “Okay, pants,” or you could stop and really look at the beautiful complexity of colours and seams. They don’t force you to admire them. They are happy just doing their basic job of covering your butt without making it look fatter than it actually is.

The Sisterhood was formed on the last day before they split up for the summer. They were four girls, all different shapes, but the Pants fit each of them perfectly. Lena was going to the island of Oia, in Greece; Bridget was going to Baja California, in Mexico; Carmen was going to Charleston, South Carolina; Tibby was staying home. The Pants traveled between them over the summer, linking them, giving them courage and love, and also making them look really good.

Ann Brashares is the author of The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and the rest of the Traveling Pants series. She lives in New York City with her husband and three kids.

I <HEART> SISTERHOOD. This book is fantastic! I read the series every summer. Every summer it makes me laugh, cry, smile, and crave them even more. Literally. Ann Brashares completely draws you into the lives of the Sisterhood, or more accurately, the life of the Pants, with utterly enjoyable characters, and doesn’t let you out until you’ve finished the trilogy. She also conveys moods, facts, and intention through subtle language, dialogue, and random-yet-relevant thoughts in the minds of the characters.

Five stars for the Pants ... a must-read for every preteen-teenage girl.
