Imagine if everything you knew about yourself started to fall apart. Strange nightmares, and a vivid dja vu, begin to be regular occurrences. Bright blue veins are appearing on your arms and they itch as though you are growing out of you skin, or into it somehow.  Then an unexpected envelope arrives in the mail inviting you to join the most prestigious fund-raising committee in all of New York.  Strange as it may seem, this committee has all the answers!

Melissa de la Cruz has created an intriguing twist on the regular vampire story.  I really enjoyed the modern setting she intertwined with an extremely well-researched past.  The truth that she based her novel on is a very interesting history lesson in itself.  The ending of her book was a cliffhanger, but well tied up so it didnt ruin the book.  I am eagerly awaiting the sequel!

Schuyler Van Alen, a beautiful that drowns herself in baggy black clothing, makes a very lovable heroine.  Since she is a misfit at the preppy private school she attends and is looked down upon by her flawlessly beautiful and sickeningly rich peers one has an immediate soft spot for the life she must lead.  Blue Bloods has an irresistible group of characters and is a wonderful version of a legend we know so well.

I think the book, Blue Bloods, definitely deserves five stars.
