During the Second Age, Ven Polypheme found himself in the adventure of a lifetime and he recorded it all. Pieces of his journals were saved by archeologists and are used in this novel. Ven is apart of a large family, with twelve older siblings, who all work in the boat manufacturing company their father owns. All his brothers, and his sister, seem to have a talent. But he is the youngest, and canít appear to do anything right. One fateful day, he was chosen to test their newest creation. He was supposed to bring the ship out to sea, and analyze every inch of it, for any flaws that may need fixing before the customer buys the vessel. Everything was going fine, until pirates ambush their ship, and Ven is the only one that survives. After that he is thrown into the water, drifting aimlessly he is also put into a world he has never known, full of mystical legends and creatures.

I can hardly explain in words, how well written this book is. I absolutely adore this novel! It is a wonderful read that is so interesting that I was reluctant to put it down. The characters were unbelievably creative, and magical. They have the most original appearances I have ever read. I love the twists in the storyline, it was heart-breaking and mind-numbing at certain points in the novel. It is sure to catch your interest right from the start. The illustrations in the novel are absolutely glorious as well and are very useful in some parts of the book.

I would recommend this book for people ages thirteen and up. It is a great book to get into; it has an utterly incredible story to tell. I am sure that many people, after me, will have something positive to say about this book.

Five out of Five stars for this novel. I would give it six stars, but unfortunately our rating doesnít go that high. It was an honor to be one of the first to read the advanced copy of this book.
