This book is beautifully written for younger readers and any Harriet the Spy fans. In it, Harriet discovers she has five aunts whom she has never heard of and were lost when her grandparents could no longer keep the family together. Harriet also discovers an unfinished portrait that her father tells her about. Can cunning young Harriet find her lost aunts? Will the portrait finally be finished? Only you can find out.

Alexander McCall Smith’s books are well written with humour and things that might happen in real life BUT with a kind of fairy tale woven in. It wouldn’t be MY favourite book in the entire world but I think anyone could grow to love the Harriet Bean books.

I rate this book 4 stars and would recommend it to anyone 7 and up.
