Mysterious Girl
Alana, Age 11, Sherwood Park, AB

One day Charles was walking in the forest when he suddenly bumped into something. As
it turned out, it was a girl named Teikana. She had black hair and big eyes. Her parents named her Teikana because it meant 'strange' in a Greek language. They thought it was a good name. Teikana didn’t know about that.

Charles talked to her.

“What are you doing here?” she asked.

“I was just going for a walk,” Charles answered. They talked and talked. Over time they became best friends. They played together at recess and talked in classes. They invited each other over after school too. They phoned and emailed each other often also.

Sometimes people asked why Teikana never played with the cool kids. She just said that she only had one friend and she’s not just going to play with people just to be cool. One best friend is better.
