I dunk my cookie in milk and she dunks hers in coffee, and then we let the moon tips melt in our mouths.

A little girl is telling about how her and her mother are trying new foods together, and having a great time while they do.  No matter how wonderful each dish is she knows her mother will always love her more!

My Mom Loves Me More Than Sushi is a cheery picture book about different types of food from around the world.  It has great illustrations by Ashley Spires, which are well balanced with an uncomplicated story and vocabulary.  The bright watercolours and lively facial expressions on the characters are inviting to the reader and/or listener. A mischievous domestic duo can be found on every page, always up to something.  The text is large and easy to read and the language is very simple, other than the names of the dishes.

I think that it is suitable for children under 5 as a read-aloud and that most children older than that would be able to read it with some help on the foreign words.

Sarah gives My Mom Loves Me More Than Sushi four scrumptiously delicious stars!
