In his huge mansion at the top of the hill, Barton sat sulking. The butler, the maid and the cook would happily have let the magic of Christmas into the house, but their young master had shut the door on it.

Scrooge all over again Ö with a small twist! Barton the master of the mansion wants nothing to do with Christmas, but when a mouse comes to him in his sleep, it shows him Christmas past, present and future.

Christmas Eve Magic is easy to read with great, dark pictures done in oils. Although it wasnít an original story, it was inspired by a Dickensí classic, A Christmas Carol.

I give Christmas Eve Magic 3 stars. It wasnít my favourite Christmas story, but it was pretty darn good! Itís a good read aloud for the younger kids, but I would recommend this book to readers 8 and up.
