Then, abruptly, she was yanked forward.  A blast of heat sent her staggering into the light.  Beside her Michael swayed unsteadily, his chest heaving.  Grandpa took a deep breath, dug a handkerchief out of his pocket and wiped his face.  Ahead of them lay Goderich in 1913.

This is the third installment in Cathy Beveridge’s time travel series.  The first two books, Shadows of Disaster and Chaos in Halifax, were equally good.  Other books by this author include One on One and Offside, which I suspect, like Stormstruck, are very well written and an all round good read.

Stormstruck is a captivating novel about two kids, Jolene and Michael, and their Grandpa.  The threesome has the ability to travel back in time, this time back to the Great Storm of 1913.  They become interested in the Great Storm while on vacation to Goderich, Ontario, one of the towns hit the hardest during the Storm on Lake Huron.  While in 1913 they begin to find themselves in a few weird situations.  Will they survive the storm or will they perish like so many others?

Stormstruck deserves 4 golden stars!
