Haley, Age 12, Beaverton, OR

Is there a reason for storms?
To keep us grounded, to remind us that
isn't always how we want it?

Does that rain wash our happiness away...
stripes it from us? To remind us to stay
real, not to be fake?

The gray skies smother the lovely blue
Surrounding us in dark
The lightning strikes, piercing away
many's fake view of reality...

But the storm lasts long enough to
tell it's dark tale
Then it passes...or fades
And a glorious ray of hope
shines on our
faces, relieving us of the
pain, and brings us back to

And how do we describe this
wondrous event?
