For nineteen-year-old Ros, life is a whirlwind of complications and pain. At the beginning of the book, she wakes up in an unfamiliar hospital bed to find out she has been shot. After the murder of her husband, Ros and her baby Nate had moved back in with her parents and now this. Ros doesn't quite know what to think. All she needs is a safe place and then the dreams start coming; a young Jewish girl fleeing from Nazis and then forced to rat out her friends or die. Along with the dreams come the chilling realization - someone is out to kill Ros.

Past Crimes is a very fast-paced book. The beginning, well, begins with a murder and everything just flies from there. The author does take a few minutes to chill though, and that's what makes the book so good; it has the right balance of action and thinking. I thought the ending was a wee bit of a letdown though. The killer was obvious but the shocking truth about past lives, well, Iíll just let you read the book.

I give the thrilling mystery, Past Crimes, five stars, although I wouldn't recommend it to anyone under the age of twelve due to some scary scenes. Happy reading!
