Writing Poems
Tony, Age 10, Laytonsville, MD

I don't like to write poems
They hurt my brain
And make me want to go home
This is such a pain

The fifth grade teacher must not like us
This assignment is the pits
They say its a must for us
I'd rather be outside with a bat and ball making hits

I sit here staring at a blank page
The lines so white it glares
I pick up the phone book and look under 'sage'
Maybe his advice will stop me from pulling out my hairs

I now will take this to Mr. Pile
And try not to complain
And greet him with a great big smile
And try not to make him go insane.
