This is a story rich with adventure and history. The author has done a fantastic job at including so many historical facts and events into the book.  Christopher Dinsdale’s writing is very descriptive and well thought out. Stolen Away is one of those books that you better set aside enough time to read it cover to cover, because I doubt you will be able to put it down, at least I couldn’t.

Stolen Away is about Kiera, an Irish born girl, who was captured by the Viking’s in an attack to her village. Together with the Viking’s she traveled to Vinland, what we now call Newfoundland. There she serves as a slave, hoping that one day she will return to her homeland, what she refers to as ‘the land of the teachers’. One day Kiera is at sea and is swept overboard, luckily a Beothuck warrior saves her from her near death. This turn of events results in a new beginning for Kiera amongst yet again new people. Will she know be able to pursue her dream of traveling home?

Stolen Away deserves 4 adventurous stars.
