Oprah Gail Winfrey was born on January 29, 1954 on the family farm in
Kosciusko, Mississippi.
As a child, Oprah never wasted a minute of her young imaginative
mind on something that seemed boring.
On Sundays, Oprah would dress up in her best clothes
and go to church with her grandmother.
The church was a very important part of her life. It was at church that
Oprah first spoke in public. After her first
recital, at the age of three, she would always
be asked to recite. At the age of four, the
whole town knew she was gifted and Oprah had
become known as “the little speaker”. Oprah
once was asked what she wanted to be when she
grew up and she answered “I want to be paid to talk.”
Oprah’s first episode aired on January 2nd, 1984. Since then she’s famous for coming from an abusive upbringing to be one of Americas most wealthy and successful women. She pioneered her talk show program. Oprah has donated lots of money to many fundraisers such as for the Katrina hurricane, the Red Cross Organization, helping kids in Africa and many more fundraisers. Throughout the power of media, Oprah Winfrey, has created an unparalleled connection with people around the world. As the producer and host of the top-rated, award-winning show, she has entertained, enlightened, and uplifted millions of viewers for over two decades!
