ďI know him. I know Rip Sawyer. A fine and cultured gentleman. He used to work for my father when he first started this business. Took care of my fatherís horses, wagons and sleighs. Ottawa. Everybody knows everybody in Ottawa and the Ottawa Valley. Wonderful thing, that!

This book has an equal balance of humour and suspense that will whirl you through the twists and turns of this strange labyrinth-type story, and to hold it all together Brian Doyle has given us these strange, hilarious, and dangerous characters such as Grandpa Rip, Martin O`Boy, Gerty McDowell, Randy, and everyone else. Pure Spring delivers a strangely dangerous tale of Martin O`Boy, that will leave you wondering what will happen next.

As for my opinion of this book Ö get writing Brian Doyle, because I canít wait to read another! I love this book because Brian Doyle shows me a world that I havenít explored yet, a world of danger and love, with some just plain fun thrown in! Other reasons I liked this book Ö I had to read it over, it was so good! A little hard to understand but strangely imaginative in almost all parts! Extraordinarily strange, but a strange that will keep you reading through the night.

This reviewer gives Pure Spring 4 shiny stars, but I think Pure Spring is probably for and will be fully appreciated by a little older reader than me.
