She sits on the dock, Her feet wade in the water, Holding the yellow balloon You were supposed to give her. The sun set far across the ocean, Her eyes close, She wishes you were here, A tear slowly falls down her face. It’s quiet. Her hair blows in the wind. Three more tears come. Then she stops And clutches the string on the balloon. “I’ll wait… Forever.” She whispers and lets the balloon fly free into the air. |
