Sophie and Romio Shrestha. In Search of the Thunder Dragon

“Where are we going?” Amber asked her father.
“To the land of the Thunder Dragon,” he replied.

When Amber and her dad visit the land of the Thunder Dragon she meets her cousin, Tashi and their grandpa.  He tells them stories of the Thunder Dragons playing in the clouds.  Amber and Tashi decide to go looking for the Thunder Dragons but they will need lots of help.

Romio Shrestha is a master of the artistic traditions of both Nepal and Tibet.  His work can be found in the British Museum and many others.  Sophie Shrestha painted and dreamed about the highest mountain in the world, Everest, poking through the clouds.  After finishing her art studies at age 21, she left Ireland, where she was born.  The two of them now reside in Katmandu with their daughters.

In Search of the Thunder Dragon is both creative and imaginative.  The cover is very colorful and inviting.  It has great detail and is very amazing.  The inside illustrations are almost abstract in a good way.  The text is very easy to read yet fancy and nicely placed on the page.  It is good that the author included a blurb about the place the book is taking place in, and a paragraph about themselves.  All the proceeds of this book will go to charities around the world, so it is not only a great book; it is for a good cause as well.  I would recommend this book for kids aged 5 and up.

I give In Search of the Thunder Dragon 5 flying stars.
