Valkyries are beautiful warrior maidens who rode winged horses onto battlefields in Norwegian myths. The people of Norway believed the reflections from their armor caused the strange galloping light of the aurora.

Do not be fooled by this book’s cover! Although mostly pictures, as you can see there are some big words that even I had trouble reading! And even though the story looks like it would be for younger children, I think that kids up to the age of eight would enjoy this fun-filled, educational book. Some things I liked were the detail, color and pictures of this book. The book itself is mostly based on the beliefs of the first people in Canada and thoughts of what causes the northern lights. Truly, you cannot judge a book by its cover!
