Their complaints got louder and louder, when suddenly, far out on the tundra there was an amazing sight.  Every bear was marching across the tundra.

Winston the polar bear, his family and friends all live near the town of Churchill in Manitoba, Canada.  Every year, for many years, they have come to this very town to hunt from the ice in Hudson Bay.  This year was different from most, for Winston, the leader of the pack, announced that their precious ice was melting as a result of global warming.  The bears were all worried.  They had to take action, but how?

Jean Davies Okimoto has written a wide selection of children and adult books, short stories, non-fiction and even a few plays.  Some other books by Okimoto include The White Swan Express, A Place for Grace and Dear Ichiro

I thought Winston of Churchill was both educational and exciting.  I loved the illustrations, which were both bright and detailed.  The story was good because it explained what global warming was so younger children could understand it.  I recommend this book to anyone over the age of 6.  This book could be a great teaching tool and Iím sure that adults will love it as well as kids.

I give Winston of Churchill 5 icy stars for an excellent job.
