“Why can’t we be normal?”

“There’s no such thing as normal.”

Chasing Normal is about Mieka Baker who wants nothing more than to be normal.  Her father is an artist who can’t afford to buy new clothes or furniture for himself or Mieka.  When Mieka’s grandma gets sick, Mieka and her dad have to travel to Houston to stay with Aunt Kate, Uncle Dave, Greta and Mark.

Each of Mieka’s problems are problems that every pre-teen could face and I liked that about the book. There wasn’t really one big problem, just small ones like a real person’s life; another reason why I liked the book.

I would give Chasing Normal four normal stars. A good pre-teen read.
