It’s the first day of eighth grade and Clare is feeling really confident with her new best friend Allison at her side. Clare’s worst enemy, Ginny Germain is not too pleased with Clare’s new friend and she wants Allison, the new girl for herself.  How can Clare save Allison from getting into major trouble? She is going to need a lot of brains and skills.

Not Fair, Clare is the second book in a three part series.  The other titles include Still There, Clare and Double-Dare, Clare.  They all have many awards and are praised by many.  If you liked Not Fair, Clare then I recommend you try the other two books in the series.

Not Fair, Clare is a clever and easy to read book for girls in grades 5-8.  It talks about some of the problems in middle school and how to fix them.  It was really easy to get comfortable with this book and I loved the plot.  It was fast and fun.  The characters were mostly every day sort of people yet some were original and unique and I loved every one of them.  It was filled with surprises and I couldn’t wait to turn the page to see what was going to happen.  When I finished I was sad that there was no more to read; I wanted more.  I guess I’ll have to wait for the next book.

I give Not Fair, Clare by Yvonne Prinz five laugh-out-loud stars.
