In the
beginning, Sophie is a sensitive, nervous, young woman living with her
mother, stepfather, and eccentric great aunt, Dika. Sophie is struggling to
find herself. One evening it is as if a miracle walks into her life; Pablo,
a small boy suffering from dehydration arrives with only her stepfather's
business card in hand. The small boy is completely alone; having traveled
across the border into Arizona, battling extreme conditions, he is the only
survivor. Sophie immediately becomes attached to Pablo, reading to him every
night and attempting to get him to smile just once, for her. Eventually they
must find the young boy’s family and take him home. Their voyage together
allows Sophie to open up to a whole new essence of life. Her comrades help
her to realize life is a beautiful journey. Sophie learns the true meaning
of love when an unexpected incident shakes her to the core, and she is
willing to do anything for the one she has fallen for. I give Red Glass five beautiful stars. It was amazing! An excellent book for young people between the ages of 13 and 18. RATING:
